Many Direct TV customers have heard of the NFL Sunday Ticket package, but for one reason or another haven’t subscribed to all-you-can-watch football festival.   While the Sunday Ticket package isn’t exactly cheap, it does provide tons of NFL content, which is great for the serious NFL fan.

An additional feature to the base package is the Red Zone channel.  Let’s take a moment and answer a few of the frequently asked questions about this particular part of Direct TV’s NFL coverage.

Is the Red Zone channel part of the NFL Sunday Ticket?

No.  The channel is part of the Superfan package, which is an add-on to the NFL Sunday Ticket.  The Superfan package broadcasts all of the games in HD, plus adds several other channels.  The package is another $99 per season, though some Direct TV customers report getting the package for free after a bit of negotiating.

Can you get the Red Zone channel with Dish Network or Comcast?

Not this year.  The Red Zone channel is part of the Superfan package, which is an add-on to the NFL Sunday ticket bundle.  Since the NFL sold the Sunday Ticket rights to Direct TV through the year 2014, that is the only place you will be assured of seeing the this particular channel.  As part of the agreement though, Direct TV is going to be offering the Red Zone channel to other providers, though it is unclear how soon and which other companies will pick up the channel.

When is the Red Zone channel on air?

The channel airs every Sunday during both the early and late games.  Coverage flips through the games, generally to the game where scoring is imminent.  At times, you may see a split-screen of two games if coverage warrants.

What else can I expect to see on the Red Zone Channel?

Those who participate in fantasy football leagues will love the channel for its extensive statistical content.  Direct TV keeps you up to date on all of the scoring and yardage accumulated by players from around the NFL.
